Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping digital tools, and browsers may be its next big frontier. Industry experts suggest that AI-powered browsers could become the “killer app” of the internet, revolutionizing how users interact with online content.

Perplexity’s Comet and Others Enter the RacePerplexity has launched an invite-only beta of its AI browser Comet, while OpenAI is also developing its own browser. Native-AI browsers like Dia are emerging too, all aiming to make the browser an intelligent, agent-driven workspace.
According to Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas, users want an interface where humans and AI agents can operate seamlessly — with simple logins, intuitive control, and minimal privacy risks. “It’s the browser,” he emphasized in a recent interview.
Redefining the Browser ExperienceExperts liken this shift to when Google Chrome transformed the web by merging the address bar with search. “AI browsers put answers and task assistance at the center,” said Brian Jackson of Info-Tech Research Group, adding that users already relying on AI tools may find this integration compelling.
Pedro David Espinoza of PDE Ventures argued that injecting AI directly into the browser is more than a product change — it’s rewriting how people access knowledge. Instead of a search bar, the browser becomes a thinking partner.
A Universal Control PanelNic Adams, CEO of 0rcus, explained that embedding AI in browsers allows for immediate contextual actions: summarizing, translating, comparing, and even transacting across tabs without copy-pasting. Similarly, Joe Z of DeAgentAI described the AI browser as a universal control panel — far beyond simple search, enabling automation and personalization.
Ross Rubin of Reticle Research added that AI browsers may reduce friction by not just replacing multiple information sources, but also by simplifying online transactions.
As AI embeds itself deeper into everyday tools, the browser — long the gateway to the internet — may soon evolve into the ultimate hub for knowledge, tasks, and automation.
