China’s internet regulator has taken action against Kuaishou Technology and Weibo, citing repeated lapses in content oversight. The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) said its Beijing branch will summon company representatives, issue formal warnings, and demand corrective measures within a set period.

The regulator noted that both platforms failed to uphold basic responsibilities in managing online content. Problematic posts, particularly those focused on celebrity gossip and trivial personal updates trending on the platforms, were highlighted as a key concern. The move reflects China’s ongoing efforts to ensure social media platforms comply with content regulations and maintain social responsibility standards.
In related tech news, Apple’s new iPhone 17 series is facing early complaints in China, with users reporting scratched screens shortly after purchase. Shoppers in Hong Kong and Shanghai shared images of scuffs on the deep blue iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, as well as marks on the black iPhone Air. Despite Apple promoting a more robust aluminium finish, Weibo posts about the scratches went viral, accumulating over 40 million views. Apple has yet to comment.
The complaints recall past flagship issues, such as the iPhone 7’s easy scratches, iPhone 6 bending, and iPhone 4 signal problems, raising renewed concerns over device durability.
